Columbia 12-Inch Popular and Classical Records
1905-1946

Columbia didn't issue twelve-inch discs until 1905, two years after Victor. Their purpose however was the same, to allow for slightly more running time – especially for classical pieces. They sold well beside the more dominant ten-inchers. The Great Depression took its toll though, causing Columbia to cease twelve-inch production in 1931. It was revived years later when CBS took over.
